Top 12 Luxurious Hotel Beds From Around The World
My love affair with hotel beds continues and I strongly believe that the hallmark of any luxury hotel is in the quality of their beds. As a luxury travel blogger, the first thing I do when I walk into a new hotel room is inspect the bed, then I take photos of it. Over the years of blogging and reviewing hotels, I’ve built up a pretty good gallery of luxurious hotel beds, so I decided it was time to share. Most of the hotels featured I have blogged about, so if you’re interested in finding out more be sure to click the links to the full reviews. Here is my round up of the 12 most luxurious hotel beds from around the world – I’ve been lucky enough to rest my head on every single one of them!
1.Four Seasons Kuda Huraa, The Maldives
We stayed in a beach villa at the Four Seasons Kuda Huraa and the bed directly faced the ocean. I remember hearing the waves lapping at night and feeling so incredibly relaxed there. I returned to the villa on the first evening after a night spa experience to find the mosquito net ties had been drawn during turn down service. I crawled into the bed and it felt like the safest place on earth.
2. Cape View Clifton, Cape Town, South Africa
Cape View Clifton is an immaculately designed luxury guest house located on the real estate gold mine of Clifton Beach 1. I was lucky enough to spend the night in their most spacious suite and enjoy the king size bed all to myself. I left feeling rested with serious design inspiration.
3. Four Seasons Serengeti, Tanzania
My heavily draped four poster bed at The Four Seasons Serengeti was fit for a princess. I love that the whole suite featured furnishings and handicrafts made by local Maasai tribes. The suite overlooked an elephant watering hole and one morning I saw a herd elephants from this bed. It was a surreal and unforgettable moment. Where else in the world can you do that? 4. The Danna, Langkawi, Malaysia
Fluffy pillows, crisp white bedding and soft sheets; my bed at The Danna Langkawi had all the ingredients for the perfect night’s sleep. I stayed in this room alone and the bed felt big enough to get lost in. I loved the sliding shutters which connected the bath tub and the bedroom. Read my full review of The Danna Langkawi.
5. Pousada de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal
Our immaculately designed room at Pousada de Lisboa featured an intricate panel of coving above the bed. As the room was quite minimal, this was the focal design point of the room and the spacious king size bed below felt like one of the biggest I’ve ever slept in. Notice the lavish use of 6 pillows. 6. Hideaway Resort and Spa, The Maldives
Our two bedroom water villa at Hideaway Resort and Spa is probably the most luxurious place I have ever stayed in. My friend and I had our own rooms and a private pool with steps down into the ocean. Whilst the rooms were minimal in design, they were incredibly spacious. Written on the bed in palm tree leaves was the message ‘Welcome, Enjoy your Stay’. I remember feeling like I had arrived in paradise. Read my full blog post about Hideaway Resort and Spa.
7. Pulitzer Amsterdam, Amsterdam
The older I become the more I appreciate the design details of a hotel and in terms of design, The Pulitzer Amsterdam blew me away. I loved the chic colour combinations of lime green and purple and the bed itself was insanely comfy. The room overlooked the Prinsengracht canal in Amsterdam and we could hear canal boats chugging by from the bed. Read my full review of Pulitzer Amsterdam.
8. No.11 Cadogan Gardens, London, England
This four poster bed at No.11 Cadogan Gardens was like something out of a fairy tale. No expense was spared on the incredibly lavish furnishings of this suite, which had an elegant marble bathroom and warm gold hues throughout. It was one of the most luxurious hotel beds I’ve ever stayed in. Read my review post of No.11 Cadogan Gardens.
9. Monastero Santa Rosa, The Amalfi Coast, Italy
Monastero Santa Rosa is a renovated monastery which dramatically clings to the cliffs of the spectacular cliffs of The Amalfi Coast. The history of this unique, boutique hotel is fascinating and we found out that our room was originally 3 individual monks rooms. From the bedroom we could see the iconic infinity pool and the sparkling ocean below. I’ll never forget waking up to this view. Read my review of Monastero Santa Rosa.
10. Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay, Bali, Indonesia
My bed at The Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay took the concept of a traditional mosquito net and turned it into a striking design feature which dominated the room. It was in Bali that I learned how all of the Four Seasons resorts around the world use the same mattress and it’s actually possible to purchase a Four Seasons mattress for your own home! I remember being extremely jet lagged at Jimbaran Bay and I was up from 4am waiting to watch the sunrise.
11. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam
Our beach villa at The Six Senses Ninh Van Bay also featured a design-focused interpretation of the mosquito net. Hanging from suspended reeds, the net canopy almost looked as if it was floating above the bed. The bed directly faced our private pool and the calm waters of Ninh Van Bay. 12. Hotel Brunelleschi, Florence Italy
Hotel Brunelleschi’s Tower Suite is home to one of the most unique and luxurious hotel beds I’ve ever seen. The rounded bed is located in the Pagliazza Tower, which is the oldest building still standing in the historical centre of Florence. It dates back to the 6th and 7th century and has been perfectly preserved throughout time. If that wasn’t enough, the suite has a perfect view of Florence’s Duomo.
