A Luxury Afternoon Tea in Leeds at Crafthouse
Last weekend I went for Afternoon tea in Leeds with my lovely Mum. It was such a treat and it felt so nice to do my make up, put on some ‘nice’ clothes and have some baby-free time with my Mum (very rare these days). I was invited by Crafthouse to try their luxurious afternoon tea and I wanted to bring my Mum as a little thank you for all the help she gives me.
Review: Afternoon Tea in Leeds at Crafthouse
We arrived at Crafthouse at 1pm and it was still fairly quiet. A dark and narrow corridor opens up into a light, bright and stylish space with floor to ceiling windows all around. I was struck by the elegant marble bar and the open kitchen (always a good sign). Being up on the fifth floor of Trinity Shopping Centre, there are views of buildings below and the big glass dome of the Trinity centre. Natural light floods in and there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
We were greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to our table for two. We were handed the afternoon tea menu and asked which type of tea we’d like. I went for Moroccan mint. Our table was overlooking the tower of Holy Trinity Church on Boar Lane. It was a lovely backdrop for the experience.

After the tea arrived, we were also offered a glass of prosecco. I liked how everything came out in stages, rather than the tea, prosecco and food all arriving at once. It was all done at a really relaxed and leisurely pace and we didn’t feel at all rushed. The afternoon tea menu is set but we were asked if we had any dietary requirements. Everything looked amazing on the menu and I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
The afternoon tea itself was presented traditionally across 3 stacked plates. I liked that the holder looked like half a bird cage. It definitely added some personality and matched the style of the restaurant perfectly. I think a good afternoon tea is full of small, light, bite sized things to try that are all bursting with flavour. I think a bad afternoon tea is low on flavour and is too dense with bread and pastry (but not enough jam and cream). Luckily, the afternoon tea at Crafthouse ticked all the boxes of a good afternoon tea.
The savoury selection was incredibly flavoursome, fresh and not too filling. I loved the dainty sausage roll. The scones were a really nice size, not to large and not too small. I like my scones with lashings of clotted cream and jam, so I appreciated that they provided plenty of both. Finally, the sweets were incredibly intricate and looked so beautiful. They also tasted fantastic, but we were so full that we had to take some home with us to try later.
This is easily the best afternoon tea in Leeds that I have ever had. The setting of Crafthouse is incredibly stylish and elegant and really sets the scene for a special occasion. The service was super attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, fresh and I am finding it really hard to critique it in anyway. In short, me and my mum both loved it. I also noticed there was a fabulous private dining room which would be amazing for hen parties, birthdays or any other special occasion for a large group.
