Sun Princess Guide and Cruise Ship Overview – Princess Cruises’ 2024 Sphere-Class ship

What’s new onboard Sun Princess?

If you already know and love the Princess brand, you’ll find things that are both new and familiar on board Sun Princess. Firstly, there’s the newly-designed, glass-sphere Piazza with venues such as Bellini’s cocktail bar, Alfredo’s Pizzeria and Kai Sushi. Sun Princess also welcomes The Dome, a cutting-edge glass-enclosed entertainment space, inspired by the terraces of Santorini. Here guests will be able to watch mesmerising entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize, providing original contemporary circus performances.

One familiar, yet newly elevated feature, is the award-winning Lotus Spa®, which is spread across two storeys.

Sun Princess is the first of ]Princess Cruises’ new Sphere-Class and will be followed by Star Princess in 2025. It’s the first Princess ship to be powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), and will offer the cruise line’s largest, most premium stateroom, the Sky Suites, accommodating up to five guests. Entertainment on board Sun Princess

By night, the Princess Arena comes alive, and will offer the most technologically advanced performance space on any Princess ship. The space can shape shift into different performances spaces, including in-the-round, to suit a variety of production shows. Whether you’re an experienced cruiser or it’s you’re first-time, you cannot fail to be impressed by the phenomenal entertainment on board, with talent and productions to rival those on Broadway and The West End

Beyond the Princess Arena,  Sun Princess will offer guests a daily programme of entertainment that starts from early morning to late at night. Other entertainment venues on board include The Piazza (for live music and entertainers) as well as Princess Live!,  where guests take part in game shows and quizzes. We promise you, no two days of entertainment are ever the same onboard a Princess cruise.

We at Travelista  love that there is also a great programme of meet-ups and events for single-cruisers meaning that solo travellers have an opportunity to meet like-minded people during their cruise.

Feel free to get involved in as much or as little of the entertainment as you like during the cruise. It’s your holiday, and the entertainment isn’t for everyone. The good thing is that whatever is going on throughout the ship, you’ll always be able to find a quiet and peaceful spot away from the action, if that’s what you want.

Sun Princess for Families

Sun Princess offers two new standalone youth and teen centres, as well as a dedicated kid’s club. Access to all of the clubs are available to guests at no extra cost, providing a brilliant, safe and engaging child-care option to parents and a place of independence for kids at any age. The Underground – Located adjacent to Neon Grove on deck 7 is The Underground, a hangout exclusively for teens aged between 13 and 19.

Morning Zumba on the deck is always a firm favourite for Princess gueststoo. It’s an amazing way to energise yourself before starting your day at sea or on land.

Last but certainly not least is the state-of-the-art gym and fitness centre with its own studio for fitness and spin classes. Sun Princess FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Where will Sun Princess sail in 2024?

The Sun Princess itinerary began with an inaugural Spring / Summer 2024 season of Mediterranean cruises. The full season included 10-day itineraries visiting popular stops throughout the Western and Eastern Mediterranean as well as the cruise line’s popular series of seven-day voyages departing from either Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia) or Athens, which can be combined for the ultimate 14-day or 21-day exploration of the Med.

In Autumn 2024, Sun Princess embarked on Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

How many passengers fit on the Sun Princess?

Sun Princess can accommodate 4,300 guests (not including third and forth guests) across 2,150 guest cabins and staterooms.

Is there a dress code on Sun Princess?

There is no specific dress code on Sun Princess, but it’s worth knowing that every cruise will include at least one ‘formal night’. Formal nights are a cruising tradition upheld to this day by nearly all cruise lines. On these formal nights, you wouldn’t look out of place in a dinner suit and bow tie or a glitzy evening gown. Of course, if you prefer a half-way house or not to dress up at all, that’s no problem.

What restaurants are on board Sun Princess?

Returning favourites include Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Crown Grill, Crooners, World Fresh Market Place. New restaurants on board Sun Princess include Coffee Currents, Love by Britto and the three-storey Horizons dining room. Check out our dedicated Sun Princess Bar and Restaurant Guide.

What happened to the old Sun Princess?

This is the third ship to be honoured with the Sun Princess name, adding to the legacy of the first ship sailing from 1974 to 1988 and the second ship sailing from 1995 to 2020. At that time, she had the largest number of balcony cabins, and the cruise line’s first 24-hour cafe.

Will Sun Princess have the MedallionClass Experience?

Yes. All Princess ships feature the MedallionClass Experience. Each guest receives a personalised Medallion which helps to deliver exceptional personalised experiences on board. Beyond acting as your stateroom key card and means of payment, it also allows you to embark and disembark quicker, order food and drink to anywhere on board  as well as a host of many other benefits.

The MedallionClass Experience also brings you the ‘best Wi-Fi at sea’. If you’re going to be cruising with Princess Cruises soon, we recommend downloading the MedallionClass app.

Sun Princess was one of the most exciting cruise ship launches of 2024 and is still an excellent choice for cruisers looking for a sense of elevated luxury and unique moments on board.
