A Review of the Micralite ProFold Pram

06/12/20 ᛫ Add a Comment

As Theo grew from a baby to a toddler, I decided that it was time to move on to smaller, lighter and more nimble every-day pram. We had been using our Joolz Day3 ever since Theo came home from hospital, and the transition from its bassinet to front facing seat was seamless. However, at around 20 months, I realised that… View Post

Hey guys! I’m excited to share some big news. I’ve got a job! It’s an amazing communications role at a national UK charity. Since 2016, running The Travelista has been my full time job and sole source of income. I have travelled the world through a job that I created, and I could not be more proud of this. However,… View Post

Staying at Lower Campscott Farm in North Devon

25/10/20 ᛫ 5 Comments

We recently stayed at Lower Campscott Farm, which offers unique child friendly accommodation in Devon, near Woolacombe and Ilfracombe. The farm has eight 4* self catering cottages, each one different from the next. The whole place is geared towards families with young children, allowing them to experience a real ‘farm holiday’, whilst being by the sea. I actually stumbled across… View Post

A Toddler-Friendly Holiday in North Devon

04/10/20 ᛫ 2 Comments

Last month we bravely loaded up the car and set off on the 6 hour drive from Leeds to North Devon, with our 22 month toddler in tow. This holiday was our Plan B after our flights to Spain were cancelled due to Covid. I was really happy with the Plan B we had come up with and was looking… View Post

Supporting Ickle Pickles Premature Baby Charity + Giveaway

As many of you will know, prematurity is now a topic very close to my heart after my own son Theo was born prematurely at 25 weeks. As well as posting about travel and motherhood, I also try to raise awareness about prematurity whenever I can (particularly on my Instagram). But today I am glad to raise awareness on my… View Post

Train Travel with a Mask and a Day Out in York

20/08/20 ᛫ Add a Comment

I was surprised and a little bit saddened to learn that 20% of people are still not wearing face coverings when travelling on UK trains. Why? I have travelled by train four times since the travel restrictions were lifted, and every time I have worn a mask without hesitation. So I’ve teamed up with Northern to help encourage people to… View Post

Dining at The Ivy Leeds after Restaurant Reopening

06/08/20 ᛫ 2 Comments

Last week we ventured out to The Ivy Leeds; our second restaurant dining experience since lockdown measures have been eased in the UK. Although we’ve eaten at The Ivy Leeds before, I knew there would be some slight changes due to the additional safety measures to make it Covid secure. We felt very safe and relaxed during the experience, so… View Post

I have my friend @naomipsychotherapy to thank for I have my friend @naomipsychotherapy to thank for introducing me to wild swimming. She lives here in the Lakes and is an all-seasons pro. At first I was intrigued by her new hobby but equally I thought she was totally mad.

With 8 wild swims under my belt now I’ve definitely grown in confidence and really crave the rush of endorphins it brings. It’s such a visceral experience that pushes your body and then rewards it. There are also so many mental health benefits to wild swimming too.

Here are Naomi’s 6 top tips if you are a beginner and want to give wild swimming a try:

1. Make sure you have a safe entry and exit point
2. Be mindful of any currents or tides. Lakes are safest as they have neither.
3. Never swim alone. Always go with someone else.
4. Wear swim booties to protect your feet from rough ground.
5. Remember mindfulness - try to be present in the moment, noticing what you can hear, smell, see, feel. You can’t get closer to nature than this.
6. Make sure you have a towel and warm, dry clothing to put on immediately after swimming.

Would you ever try wild / cold water swimming? Or are you already converted? 💬

Let me give you a tour of the penthouse suite at t Let me give you a tour of the penthouse suite at the @editionnewyork - where we just stayed for 5 nights.

The penthouse currently sells at an eye watering $10,084 a night, which we absolutely did not pay.

For full disclosure, this was not a PR / press stay. My friend booked a loft suite and the penthouse upgrade was a surprise as the lovely reception staff noticed it was her birthday during our stay. We did not mention our social media accounts or my blog so this stroke of luck was 100% organic!

Before booking the Edition NYC we saw online that the hotel regularly upgrades its guests whenever possible. We were hopeful but never ever expected they’d upgrade us to the penthouse!

Insider tip: the generous upgrades are definitely a reason to stay at The Edition when you’re next in NYC.
