NG Phaselis Bay Review: The Best Family-Friendly Hotel in Turkey

Travelista Editor Jessica Ruth Gibson recently took her Mum and her 6-year-old son on a multi-generational family holiday to Antalya, Turkey. Their base was the NG Phaselis Bay, an all-inclusive 5 star family friendly hotel in Antalya.

Before I share my honest review of NG Phaselis Bay, let me tell you how I ended up there. When booking a family holiday, I would usually do all the organisation and planning, by devouring blogs, Trip Advisor pages and articles, exactly like this one. But this time, I tried something different. Instead of spending endless hours at my laptop and deliberating profusely, I visited the Kuoni Harrogate store for an appointment. The result of 1 hour in store with a Kuoni Travel Expert was this; booking a holiday that felt so tailored to me and my family’s needs and ending up somewhere I’d likely never have discovered if left to my own indecisive devices. Now that I’m back from the holiday, I can absolutely see why they selected this very special hotel for us. Let’s get into the story and this NG Phaselis Bay review.

A Special Multi-generational Holiday

I travelled to NG Phaselis Bay for a family holiday with my Mum and my son, who was 5 at the time. As a single parent, it was so lovely to be able to bring my Mum along for support with my son as well as for a chance to spend some quality time as mother and daughter. It was the first time we had ever had a holiday as a 3 and I loved the dynamic it created. My Mum and I helped each other to both get windows of ‘alone time’, when we did things like visiting the spa for a Balinese massage or going to the gym.

NG Phaselis Bay Review: The Best Family-Friendly Hotel in Turkey

An Introduction to NG Phaselis Bay

NG Phaselis Bay is an all-inclusive 5 star hotel in the Kemer region of Antalya, Turkey. Part of NG Hotels, NG Phaselis Bay is the first coastal hotel within the group, which opened in June 2021. With a total of 480 rooms and 8 restaurants, there’s no denying that this is a large 5 star hotel. But with clever design and intimate spaces throughout, it doesn’t at all feel like you’re staying in a hotel of this scale.

The first thing to know about this hotel is that it hits the unique sweet spot between being both aesthetically pleasing as well as extremely child-friendly. If you’re a parent, you’ll probably already know that these hotels are not that easy to come across – and finding one feels a bit like uncovering a hidden gem. The NG Phaselis Bay feels super cool, stylish and elegant, as well as incredibly accommodating for children. With an abundance of facilities and programmes in place to keep children entertained, hard-working parents truly do get a chance to relax.

The second thing to know abut this hotel (that you can’t necessarily get a feel for from online research) is the absolutely spectacular location. Situated in its own sheltered bay with glittering turquoise water and dramatically framed by mountains, you cannot fail to be blown away by your surroundings. Being amongst so much natural beauty definitely helped me to switch off and feel a world away from my busy home life. The hotel has two private beaches, a main pebble-to-sand beach as well as a smaller secret beach – be sure not to miss it!

Getting There

We arrived at Antalya Airport late in the day after a 4.5 hour flight from Manchester Airport. We collected our luggage and were whisked off into a private hotel transfer, something that is included as standard in all Kuoni package holidays to Turkey and worldwide. The drive from the airport to the hotel took about 1 hour but it felt easy and comfortable in our luxurious private transfer.

First Impressions of NG Phaselis Bay

By the time we arrived at the hotel it was totally dark outside. I always find arriving somewhere in the dark to be a bit disorientating as you can’t really get a feel for your surroundings, but at least we’d have that to look forward to in the morning. The friendly staff at the front desk took our luggage and invited us to take a seat to fill out the check-in paper work. The woman on the desk invited my son to ‘check in’ too, giving him a pen and paper to write his own name and feel as though he was doing something grown-up. It was a very sweet and welcoming child-friendly touch.

Your Own Personal ‘NGuide’ Concierge

At check-in we also met our ‘NGuide” who was called Nezir and explained he would be our direct point of contact for anything we needed during our stay, a bit like our own personal concierge. He suggested we set up a WhatsApp group for direct and easy communication which I was a little surprised by at first. I have never seen this approach done at any other hotel but I actually turned out to be the most easy and convenient way to stay informed and have an open line of communication with the staff. Every morning we’d get sent the hotel’s entertainment programme of the day as well as any special events and offers available to guests.

If we had any queries about the hotel or wanted to make any bookings, we would ask via WhatsApp and get a very speedy and helpful reply. I ended up really loving this part of the experience and looked forward to the morning bulletins getting sent through.

Nezir personally took us to our room on arrival and explained a bit of orientation of the hotel as he went along. To our surprise we had been upgraded to a suite with dual-aspect views of the mountain and ocean which truly was an unexpected and memorable touch.

The Child Friendly Features of NG Phaselis Bay

The hotel has an abundance of family friendly facilities, which could probably do with a dedicated article all of their own. For a quick overview, check out this Travelista Instagram reel, or read on. Here are some of the vert best child friendly features at NG Phaselis bay;

A Dinosaur-Themed Aqua Park

Kids will love the dinosaur-themed aqua park which has a toddler splash zone and 6 waterslides that range from gentle tube slides to open half pipes and speed slides. Whether you’ve got a toddler or a teen, there will be something to excite them at this brilliant hotel facility. The fact it’s on-site offers the ultimate convenience and peace of mind for parents, and the connecting bar means you can still relax with a cocktail or a coffee whilst you watch the kids play. There’s also a small connecting playground.

Take Note: We visited the hotel in October half term and because it was heated, the aqua park was still warm enough to use and enjoy.

An Arcarde-Style Games Room

The games room is another haven for kids, with free unlimited arcade games that could probably be played and enjoyed from ages 4 and up. Older kids will love the comfy Playstation bays and the desktop gaming wall, where they can from a wide range of well-loved games and play against new friends. The games room is supervised by a member of staff for safety.

The Beluga Kids Club (ages 4 to 12)

The kids club at NG Phaselis Bay is another inclusive aspect of the hotel, meaning the childcare is completely free for all guests. It offers a magical world for kids with game consoles, creative activities, a kid’s restaurant, a cinema room and even colourful slides instead of stairs. The shady outdoor section is great for ball games and al fresco crafts, and inside kids can stay cool in the many different rooms. The kids club operates from 9am to 12am and caters for ages 4 to 12 but it also has a dedicated baby and toddler room. It is open between 20th March and 31st October.

A Programme of Kids Entertainment

As part of the wider entertainment programme the hotel (which offers active and creative sessions for adults) there is a dedicated section for children. Each day your kids can expect to choose from different activities and every night there is a fun, visual and very engaging children’s show before the main stage performances. Prepare to be throughout entertained throughout your stay here.

Heated Outdoor Pools and a Safe Toddler’s Pool

Poolside relaxation is actually achievable for parents here because of the super safe toddler’s pool and the heated main pool. With sun beds surrounding both pools and waiters you can summon at the touch of a button, it could not be easier to relax and enjoy a drink here or enjoy playing with your kids in the pool. I did both and loved it! My son also braved getting into the sea from the pier which was an amazing moment to share together. Even in October, the sea was a temperature you could swim in comfortably.

Themed and Adjoining Family Rooms

There’s a great range of room options for kids; from extra camp beds in bedrooms to adjoining rooms and even dedicated themed family rooms. The Theme Deluxe family rooms are incredible spacious, offering two connecting rooms with a large kingsize bed in one and bunkbeds in the other. The kids room is styled in a playful yet tasteful way and includes a PlayStation 5 gaming set up.

The Chid and Baby Buffet

There’s a dedicated section in the main buffet (on the end closest to the main buffet entrance) that is dedicated entirely to kids and babies. Here you’ll find formula, yoghurts and jarred purees as well as a puree station where you can basically blend up any of the fresh food you see in the buffet. There’s also a microwave and bottle warmer and on the other side you’ll find hot food including freshly blended purees, plain pastas and lots of classic kids’ favourites. There are even little tables and chairs if your kids want to sit and eat independently. A wonderful touch and another way to make things easier for parents.

Beach Water Sports

Older kids will love discovering the waterspouts kiosk at the end of the NG Phaselis Bay beach. Although I think this is an independent business, it’s on the same beach so it practically feels ‘on site’. While I was there I saw kayaks, pedalos, SUP boards, water cars, jet skis and even parasailing. The water sports are not inclusive for hotel guests so expect to pay an additional fee for this.

All Inclusive Dining

Drinks and dining is coming in high on this NG Phaselis Bay review because it’s another stand-out aspect of this hotel. I wasn’t sure how a hotel of such a large scale could deliver a 5-star food and drink experience, but NG Phaselis Bay exceeded all my expectations. From fresh grills at the beach bars to signature Turkish dishes in the a la carte restaurant, indulgent stacks at the burger restaurant and the mind-blowing main buffet, there are lots of ways to dine within the all-inclusive offer of this hotel. The quality, freshness and choice of the food is truly 5-star.

As well as the 4 inclusive restaurants, guests also have the option to dine at 4 speciality restaurants (Italian, Steak, Teppanyaki and Turkish) for an additional surcharge. I had the pleasure of eating at the Steak and the Italian restaurants during my stay at NG Phaselis Bay. The food at these restaurants is a further step up – as you’d expect for the additional fee – but the all-inclusive food is so great and varied that I really don’t think you even need to look elsewhere. The experience is also a little too drawn out if you’re dining with young children. The speciality restaurants would be great for parents who were looking to do ‘child free date night’ whilst the kids were with extended family or in the kids club.

See the full list of restaurants at NG Phaselis Bay.

The Main Buffet

The main buffet restaurant at NG Phaselis Bay is an experience to say the least. The amount of food on offer is diverse and plentiful and it would be impossible not to feel slightly overwhelmed by the amount of choice on offer. In an attempt to make things as hygienic as possible, chefs stand at all the food stations and are ready to serve up your requested dishes. I didn’t mind this approach, although I heared some guests saying they’d like to be able to help themselves.

From Turkish dips to fresh grills, pastas, salads, curries, pizzas, wraps, seafood and so much more, the menu changes daily so you’ll never have to eat the same thing twice. I loved the dessert counter with an incredible display of Turkish pastries an desserts (be sure to try the Bakalava) as well as a cake selection good enough to rival an elegant French patisserie.

Coffees, Cocktails and Beyond

Similarly to the dining, I was so impressed by the cocktails and generally all the drinks on offer at NG Phaselis Bay (particularly the top notch Margaritas which went down very well by the pool). The cocktails were presented in beautiful glassware and garnishes which made them feel so premium – a far cry from the cheap cocktails in plastic cups you might associate with a standard all-inclusive hotel. You can enjoy a crisp white wine at dinner from the extensive wine list, and your morning coffee is brought to your table and freshly made to order. I also loved ordering a iced coffee for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon boost.

My Mum doesn’t drink alcohol so we were curious to know what alcohol-free alternatives were available. These included an alcohol-free beer as well as a small collection of alcohol-free cocktails which also had wonderful flavours and great presentation. Overall, the all-inclusive drinks are truly premium and it brought us so much peace of mind knowing that they were all included in the price.

Shopping and Cafe Culture

An unexpected part of NG Phaselis Bay was the luxurious and beautifully-designed avenue of shops which feels like a part of the famous Dubai Mall. Here you’ll find various fashion, beauty and homeware boutiques as well as a cocktail bar and 4 of the a la carte restaurants. But my favourite place in the hotel ‘mall’ was the patisserie and gelato cafe. This intimate cafe serves homemade gelato, artisanal chocolates and elaborate pastries which you can pick from the counter and enjoy with a freshly ground coffee or tea. This premium experience is also part of the all-inclusive offering. My son loved stopping here after dinner and choosing a few little chocolates to take over to the evening show.

A Dazzling Entertainment Programme

It had been a while since I’d gone to a large all-inclusive resort, so really the entertainment wasn’t something I had given much thought. I certainly didn’t have any big expectations so I was pretty amazed by what was on offer in terms of the evening entertainment. The hotel has a brilliant ‘main stage’ with all the pyrotechnics and special effects that you’d expect to see on a West End stage. The talent, costumes and show concepts are also exceptional and looking back, catching the evening show as a family was one of my favourite memories of the holiday. My son was so captivated by what he was watching that it felt like such a special experience for us all. We got in the routine of staying up late to watch a show at 9pm or 9.30pm and then all going to bed at the same time afterwards.

Adult Only Spaces

After 6 years of being a parent, I think I have just about come to understand the recipe required for a great family holiday. So much of it is centred around giving the kids a great time, but as a parent you should also get a little bit of time to do exactly what you want to do. NG Phaselis Bay work on the ethos of ‘happy Mum, happy baby’, so they’ve also carved out lots of places and spaces for adult relaxation. In fact, if you do manage to carve out some time for yourself, you’ll be pretty spoilt for choice. There is a tranquil adults only pool, with its own bar, a stunning spa complete with treatments and Turkish hammam as well as a a state-of-the-art gym.

To Conclude

NG Phaselis gave us everything I needed to enjoy 3 incredibly happy and carefree days with family. Beneath the glorious 5 star luxury, the October sunshine and the spectacular location, the best bit about this holiday was being my mental load being a fraction of what it is back home. Living in a single parent household can sometimes feel like you’re on a never ending treadmill of work, admin, cooking and domestic tasks. But here I was able to get off that treadmill and just spend some time getting to be ‘fun silly Mummy’ with my little boy – and that was truly priceless.
