Review: A World Away at The Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay, Montenegro
We sent Travelista contributor, Em Hope, to explore the beautiful country of Montenegro with Jet2Holidays. She stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort and shares why it’s the perfect luxury base for your Montenegro adventure.
During a recent press trip with Jet2, I was lucky enough to stay at the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay resort – a retreat I will never forget and one I’d highly recommend to anyone. Nestled in Montenegro’s stunning Boka Bay, the resort offers a luxurious 5-star experience, with stunning views of the vast mountains and inviting Adriatic coast.
With a relaxing spa and state-of-the-art fitness centre, four restaurants, two outdoor pools, its own private beachfront and 252 sophisticatedly designed rooms and suites, the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay offers something for everyone and ensures every guest experiences luxury and comfort.

Conveniently located just 8 kilometres from Tivat Airport, the hotel promises a prompt transition from arrival to destination. There are regular flights to Montenegro from most major UK airports. It is worth mentioning, that travel time can vary depending on peak time traffic and roadworks, but typically the journey from Tivat Airport to the resort spans around 25 minutes.
In terms of accommodation cost, I’ll be honest, it’s not somewhere to stay if you’re on a strict budget, however, if luxury is your aim then this hotel is certainly a perfect option. Bear in mind that room prices appear to vary depending on the type of room and booking site, but as a rough estimate for a standard room, expect an average of around £120 per night in the winter months and around £320 per night in the peak summer months. This number is by no means definitive but provides a rough figure of current accommodation prices at the resort if you’re considering booking.
One thing’s for sure, whether you’re looking to invest in a romantic retreat or a memorable family holiday, the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay guarantees an exceptional stay.

First Impressions
Arriving at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kotor was very memorable. Taking in my new setting and the background views of the majestic mountains felt like a proper ‘pinch me’ moment. Entering the hotel via the marble staircase, friendly staff were ready to help with my bags which made me feel truly cared for from the moment I walked through the door. The air-conditioned reception area was spacious with plenty of natural sunlight making the resort lobby a welcoming space.

From the breakfast room to the quiet spa downstairs, every corner of the hotel is brimming with sophistication. Although I probably would have benefitted from a brief tour of the hotel, discovering the resort’s hidden gems on my own was exciting. Outside, the inviting swimming pools were buzzing with music and families were enjoying their relaxation time on deck beds, creating a perfect spot for relaxation.
As I got to my Deluxe room, I was absolutely delighted to find a large, comfy king-size bed with fluffy pillows awaiting me. The spacious marble bathroom, featured a toilet, a large mirror with a temperature and time display and gorgeous complimentary toiletries to use during the stay. The highlight was the large luxurious walk-in rain shower, which was a dreamy place to relax after the series of adventurous days out that we had.

The room was also well-equipped with all of the essential necessities (hairdryer, hangers and wardrobe space, soaps, bottled water, USB ports etc) that you’d expect in a hotel room. The HDTV television even had a personalised message on it waiting to welcome me to the hotel, which was a really thoughtful touch.
My absolute favourite spot in the bedroom was the balcony overlooking the pool area. This was a super cosy retreat for soaking up the sun and the perfect place to enjoy lounging with a good book away from the livelier pool area (especially if you’d like to still be part of the action but not right in the hub of it all).

With the background of the vast mountains set majestically on one side and the blue waters of the bay glistening on the other, the hotel offers true natural beauty to its visitors. The peaceful vibe of the bay creates a relaxing oasis where guests can truly unwind and reconnect with themselves.

And, whether you choose to book yourself onto a leisurely boat ride to explore the secluded coves of the bay or simply enjoy a peaceful escape around the hotel area, every detail of this area offers an authentic experience to guests.

Dining Options at Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay
The Hyatt Regency resort offers a variety of dining options, which is great if you want to try lots of different food whilst you’re here, each with its unique atmosphere and menu.
The Ole Beach Bar provides a laid-back setting overlooking the private beach, where guests can enjoy a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, from fresh seafood to grilled meats, all served with a stunning view of the beachfront. It was here I had some deliciously tasty shrimp tacos with a fresh fruit juice that was so reviving and it was particularly special to savour each bite whilst soaking in the mountainous views.

The Blue Restaurant, on the other hand, offers a more refined dining experience, featuring a tasty array of gourmet dishes. Although we didn’t end up dining here, the menu does appear to offer a diverse range of meals, from decadent meat dishes to vibrant vegetarian options.
For those looking for a more casual vibe, the hotel’s Lighthouse Restaurant offers a more relaxed setting with a menu that focuses on fresh, light dishes, whilst complementing its picturesque surroundings. The hotel also has a café area, where you can enjoy coffee and fresh pastry at your leisure.
For breakfast, guests can choose to feast on a delicious spread of meats, cheeses, pastries, fruits, omelettes, cereals, fresh juices, waffles and hot tapas dishes providing a hearty start to the day. There’s something for everyone and you won’t leave breakfast hungry.
Finally, if guests are in search of a holiday tipple, the hotel also features an elegant bar near the reception area where they can enjoy a range of signature cocktails and premium refreshments, all while taking in the stunning views of Kotor Bay.
Spa and Relaxation at Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay
The spa
For guests wishing to recharge and escape the stresses of everyday life, the resort offers a luxurious place of tranquillity in Spa Soul. Equipped with plush relaxation lounges, an indoor pool, invigorating sauna and steam rooms, and its own fitness centre, the spa invites its guests to truly unwind.
As guests step into the relaxing setting of the spa, they are greeted by a true sense of calm: the soothing aromas and soft lighting transport visitors to a world of true bliss. And, if guests are feeling in the mood to be properly pampered, the spa offers a range of indulgent treatments tailored to suit individual needs, such as a tranquil massage or a rejuvenating facial to top their personal spa experience.

Poolside Areas
You won’t be short of places to have a dip at this resort. The Hyatt Regency Hotel also boasts a couple of stunning outdoor pools that perfectly complement the serene surroundings. Both pools are close to each other and boast gorgeous panoramic views of the Adriatic and the mountains. If you’re like me and you enjoy a balance of a good dip but some precious sunbathing time, the pools are also complete with plush deck chairs and double deck beds with parasols so you can truly relax however you choose to spend your time.
Guests can also elevate their poolside experience with the poolside bars. The pool on the lower deck offers gorgeous views of the mountains whilst boasting its own chic in-pool bar. Here, guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails and refreshing drinks while enjoying the sunshine. For a more casual vibe, the Breeze Pool Bar offers a laid-back vibe still with panoramic views of the stunning coastline. Guests can indulge in light bites and signature drinks.

The Hotel Beach
Set against the backdrop of Kotor’s stunning coastal scene, the Hyatt Regency Hotel has its own private beach, equipped with sun loungers and plush parasols, creating an inviting space for relaxation and enjoyment. With attentive beach service and a range of activities available, guests can easily transition from peaceful sunbathing to exciting adventures on the water.

Brilliant Staff
In my experience, the friendly staff at the resort embodied warmth, professionalism, and a genuine dedication to guest satisfaction. From the moment of arrival, we were greeted with smiles and great service that set the tone for a memorable stay. One particular encounter at breakfast stood out among the rest – a lovely staff member remembered me from the previous day and the conversation we had previously had. Her thoughtful questions were a really nice touch and showed the hotel’s commitment to personalised experiences.
Where to explore in Kotor
Being situated at this particular resort offers a decent base for exploring the wonders of Kotor and its surroundings. From here, guests have the opportunity to embrace the rich history and cultural heritage of the UNESCO-protected Old Town with its charming cobbled streets, ancient churches, bustling restaurants and vibrant squares.

Perast, another charming village is only a short boat ride away (and highly recommended!) – here you can marvel at the iconic site of Our Lady on the Rocks, take a wander down the waterfront or dine in one of the delicious dineries that reside there.
The hotel’s proximity to the bay presents a great opportunity for water-based activities if you enjoy a bit of adventure. From leisurely boat rides to neighbouring islands and towns, wild swimming in the Blue Cave, or water sports, guests can take full advantage of the natural beauty that surrounds Kotor.
And, if you’re stuck for things to do, the hotel’s dedicated concierge service offers valuable insights and recommendations for exploring the area, ensuring that every moment spent in and around Kotor is used wisely.
