Ad Newcastle, I love you! 💓 I moved to Newcast Ad Newcastle, I love you! 💓

I moved to Newcastle as a student aged 18, and I loved every second of the three years I called this city home. This weekend I got to return with my best friend Fi, who I met on the first week of moving here.

13 years later (wow), we have had so much fun retracing our old steps, reminiscing and discovering new areas of the city we once called home.

After spending 2 days here I can confirm that I have just as many *feels* for this place as I did on that first University open day my Dad took me to aged 17. The friendly people, the compactness of the city, the bars and restaurants, the architecture, the sheer value for money (seriously, where else can you get a glass of Prosecco for £3.95?). Swipe for some highlights which include;

1️⃣A walk along the Quayside
2️⃣Returning to Francesca’s pizzeria in Jesmond for the ‘half pizza half pasta’ (if you know you know)
3️⃣Special access to climb to the top of Grey’s Monument
4️⃣Discovering the up-and-coming areas of Ouseburn
5️⃣Brunch at @kilnouseburn, a unique ceramic cafe and studio
6️⃣Buying pick ’n’ mix at @graingermarket like old times
7️⃣Strolling down my old favourite streets such as Side
8️⃣Margaritas at @wc_newcastle, a bar that was once a public toilets on the Bigg Market

Stay tuned for my reel and stories for the full recap of what we got up to, and what I’d recommend doing on your own weekend away in Newcastle.

Ad - press stay. I am so excited to tell you about Ad - press stay. I am so excited to tell you about this UK family-friendly gem we have discovered. 🏕

Howbeck Lodge is one of many @feather.down.farms around the UK which offer a unique ‘glamping’ experience.

Their spacious tents offer the home comforts of proper beds and fluffy bedding, hot showers and an ensuite bathroom, but still allow you to immerse yourself in nature and disconnect from the world (with no electricity and minimal Wi-Fi). 🪵🌳

Instead, you're challenged to cook your meals and hot drinks on a wood burning stove, which is all part of the fun. You can collect fresh eggs from the farm hens and hand-grind your own coffee beans. And when you’ve had enough of stoking fires, you can get freshly made pizzas and home cooked farmhouse meals delivered to your tent. Heaven! 🍴

Howbeck Lodge is incredibly family friendly, with lots of farm animals to meet. Theo has loved his first camping holiday, an experience that is just as wild as him! 🌿

Stay tuned for my next reel to see more of this very special place 🎥

Ad 💭A few thoughts on cruising as a way to trav Ad 💭A few thoughts on cruising as a way to travel 💭

We spent a total of 6 hours in Bruges, and got to see and experience all of this! 6 hours may sound like a very short amount of time, but it was just enough time to sample the city and get a feel for it.

I think the word ‘sample’ is key when it comes to going on a cruise. Cruising is a very unique, and at first different, way to travel. To truly get the best out of it, I think you need to see it as an opportunity to sample lots of different places, rather than doing just one place in depth. That way, you can leave at peace with the fact that that you’ve probably not seen and ‘done’ everything in each place.

Instead, you pick the highlights. You see it as a chance to get a taster of places you may not necessarily plan a dedicated holiday to.

It’s also a chance to venture to slightly more intrepid destinations with peace of mind, knowing you are visiting with expert guidance, organisation and route planning (I’m dreaming of a cruise around Japan now, somewhere I’ve always wanted to go🌸).

I think this is a strange concept to get your head around, especially for seasoned travellers, who want to travel authentically and really get under the skin of their destinations.

But whatever the route of your cruise, if you visit somewhere you love, you’ll know you can always return. So I’m all for ‘sampling’ as many places as I can around the world. 🌎

Would you ever consider a cruise? Let’s start a debate 💬

Ad Formal night on board Enchanted Princess 💫 Ad Formal night on board Enchanted Princess 💫

It’s tradition that on every Princess cruise there is at least one formal night, where guests get to dress to impress. There are live bands, dancing, indulgent dinners and lots of fun people watching. I loved seeing how much effort everyone made, with their sparkles, sequins, tuxedos and bow ties.

TIP: So if you’re heading on a cruise be sure to pack at least one fancy outfit to look the part!

Did you know about this cruising tradition? It’s such a fun excuse to get dressed up. A nice change to my usual uniform of leggings and a jumper 🤣

Yesterday we hopped off the ship at Rotterdam and spent the day in Amsterdam on a shore excursion with a river cruise and 3 hours free time. We also found the best kept secret in Amsterdam, especially for foodies. Head to my stories to see what we got up to ⚓️

If you’re curious about any aspect of cruising leave a question as a comment and i’ll let you know! 💓
