My Cornwall Travel Bucket List

25/05/21 ᛫ 2 Comments

If there’s one place I could instantly transport myself to in the UK right now, it would be Cornwall. The soft sand beaches, the laid-back atmosphere, the surf culture, the palm trees, the fresh seafood, the coastlines; there are many reasons why Cornwall feels a world away from the rest of the UK. I can totally understand why staycations in Cornwall have boomed since the Covid travel restrictions were put in place and I’ve been working on my Cornwall Bucket list for when I can return.

The Pentire Headland, Newquay

In collaboration with Hotels.com, but all views are my own

My first visit to Cornwall was in 2018 and at the end of the trip, I already couldn’t wait to return. We stayed in a hotel overlooking Fistral Beach in Newquay, which had the most amazing balcony views. Every morning I would wake up and watch the Firstral Beach surfers. The trip was during my pregnancy with our son Theo, and I had visions of how amazing Cornwall would be for a future family holiday destination.

From a combination of recommendations and research, I have been putting together a mental Cornwall travel bucket list for when we return. Now that Theo is two, I’d love to plan a holiday to Cornwall and start working on my list. I’d also revisit some of the best places from my first Cornwall trip. Here’s my Cornwall bucket list so far;

My Cornwall Bucket List

  • Visit the village of Padstow
  • Explore and / or stay in Peranporth
  • A surf lesson at Fistral Beach
  • A trip to the village of Veryan, the place my Mum is named after
  • Snorkelling at Kynance Cove
  • A day on Lusty Glaze beach
  • Take my son on the Lappa Valley Steam Railway
  • Visit Falmouth Harbour
  • Bedruthen Steps
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan
  • The Zip Line at The Eden Project
  • Watch an open-air show at the Minack Theatre
  • Visit the romantic St Michaels Mount
  • Go on a ghost tour at Bodmin Jail
  • Stand at Land’s End

Bedruthan Steps
Minack Theatre Cornwall
Port Issac Cornwall
St Michaels Mount Cornwall

Things I have already done in Cornwall that I would love to experience again

  • The Eden Project
  • Revisit St Ives and spend time exploring the galleries
  • Take in the views at the Pentire Headland
  • Staying on Fistral Beach

Have you been to Cornwall before or are you planning your first trip? Is there anything else you think I should add to my bucket list? Leave me a comment in the box below and let me know! Jess x

I love Cornwall and my favourite bit is to watch the sunrise on Bodmin Moor, beautiful.

The story behind the reel: last weekend we visited The story behind the reel: last weekend we visited the little coastal town of Staithes on the North Yorkshire coast. It was cold, windy, raining and then hail stones came down when we reached the harbour. Things weren’t going so well, until we stumbled across @cod_and_lobster_official and spontaneously ran in for shelter.

We entered a cosy little haven, with a lit fire and hot coffee. We hid from the cold and by the time we left, the skies had changed and sun was breaking through the clouds. Perfect timing to climb up the hill to the iconic Staithes view point. We couldn’t have asked for more. ✨

Be sure to add Staithes to your list if you ever come to North Yorkshire, and check out my previous reel for an ideal base to explore 🌿
