I thought it was about time I shared an update on my travel plans for 2020. As many of you may know, I took an unexpected hiatus from overseas travel when my son Theo was born. This was for a number of reasons, but mainly to do with the fact that we wanted to stay close to the NHS after he was born so early. Now Theo is 1 year ‘corrected’ and he’s so much bigger and stronger than ever before. My anxieties have calmed down and I am happy to share that I now feel ready to take him overseas. Here’s what I’ve got planned so far…
February – Amsterdam, Netherlands
This month I took a flying visit to Amsterdam for my friend Natalie’s hen party. It was my first trip abroad since becoming a Mum but being a hen party, Theo stayed at home with his Daddy. The jam-packed schedule was Saturday to Sunday, so we were in Amsterdam for one night only. I am so pleased I did something for myself by going on this trip. It was a healthy dose of laughter, silliness and girl time that I really needed. I shared more reflections on this trip in my Instagram post below. Check out my 9 Fun things to do on a Hen Party in Amsterdam blog post.
June – Weymouth, UK
In June we are heading down south for a one week UK holiday across Somerset and Dorset. This trip was inspired by a wedding that we’ve been invited to attend, with Theo too. First we’ll spend 2 nights at Dillington House (the wedding venue) then we’re driving over to Weymouth in Dorset for another 5 nights. I chose Weymouth as its where my Grandma grew up but somewhere I haven’t visited since I was a child. There are some beautiful golden sandy beaches there and plenty of family-friendly accommodation. We haven’t booked anywhere yet but I am hoping to find a nice self-catering lodge on the beach. I’ll definitely be using this ‘50 unique things to do in Weymouth and Portland‘ blog post by fellow blogger Emily Luxton.

September – Almunecar, Spain
In September we’ll be taking Theo abroad for the first time for a holiday in southern Spain. Almunecar is a quiet and authentic Spanish town on the Andalusian coast about 1 hour from Malaga. My parents have a villa there and it’s one of my favourite places in the world. Last time I visited I was pregnant with Theo and this time we get to bring him with us. I can’t wait for Theo to have so many first on this trip; his first plane ride, his first swim in the sea and making his first sand castle. Scott, Theo and I will spend the week there with my parents too. With the extra pairs of hands we hope to squeeze in a bit of relaxation as well as running around after Theo!

October – New York, USA
Myself and two of my best friends all turn 30 this year, so to make the occasion we decided to plan a big girls trip to New York City. This will be my second trip to New York after visiting for the first time in November 2017. I completely fell in love with the place and knew I would return. You simply can’t see and do everything in New York in just one trip. We’ll be spending 5 days and 4 nights and plan to do plenty of eating, drinking, exploring and relaxing. We’re currently looking into booking tickets for Moulin Rouge on Broadway which will be a dream come true for me as its one of my all time favourite films. Quality time with friends is like therapy for me!

I can’t wait for my confirmed upcoming trips and hope to squeeze in a few more within the year too. What are your travel plans for 2020 so far? Share them with me in a comment below. Jess x
Oooh lots of exciting things coming up for you guys! That’s brilliant. I went on a hen party last year, baby free, and it was bliss! I think it’s so needed & I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself. We’ve got a couple of nights in the lakes next month with some friends and their baby which will be super cute & exciting and then Dan & I are having a couples holiday to Barcelona in summer – We can’t bloody wait! Eeek!
