How to get the Best Black Friday Travel Deals

16/11/18 ᛫ 2 Comments

I don’t know about you, but I always get a little excited for Black Friday. Maybe it’s the Northerner in me, but I love bagging a bargain and for the past couple of years I’ve waited patiently until 23rd November with my shopping list in tow. As a Travel Blogger, it’s becoming even more exciting now that travel booking sites have begun to embrace the craze and offer some of the best Black Friday travel deals. In partnership with Expedia, I’m sharing my top tips on how to get the best Black Friday travel deals in 2018. With a bit of forward planning, you’ll be amazed at what travel offers you can find. Let your 2019 travel plans start here!

Best Black Friday Travel Deals

How to Get the Best Black Friday Travel Deals in 2018

1. Be Realistic, Focus on One Trip

The amount of travel deals available online on Black Friday can feel somewhat overwhelming. Instead of trying to scour the internet for a multiple holidays, keep it simple and focus on bagging a great deal for one specific trip. Also streamline your search to the reputable booking websites you know and trust. Expedia is a great place to start.

2. Decide on Your Destination in Advance

Where do you want to go? You may already have a specific bucket list destination in mind, or perhaps you just fancy getting a cheap deal somewhere sunny. Either way, it’s good to decide on your destination in advance.

3. Choose Between Package Holiday or Flights + Hotel

A great way to narrow down your search even further is to decide what type of trip you want to book. If you want maximum flexibility on flight times and departure airports, it’s a good idea to book flights and accommodation separately. Or, you could snap up a package holiday deal with options for self catering, half-board or full board. Choose what works for you.

4. Download the Expedia App

Once you’ve got your dream trip in mind, start your research by downloading the Expedia app. This clever and easy-to-use app is designed to be your travel companion on the go. I love how you can search for flights, package holidays, hotels and even activities all from your mobile or tablet. To get your heads on Expedia’s amazing Black Friday deals, head to the Black Friday landing page on 23rd November to download a coupon, then redeem the coupon on the app.

5. Read Hotel Reviews in Advance

If you’re anything like me, you probably read lots of review websites before making that important hotel booking decision. This can take time, but it’s totally worth it. Try to read these reviews in advance of Black Friday and create a hotel shortlist so that you can snap up a cheap hotel booking without any hesitation.

6. Plan to Book in the Morning

Many Black Friday travel deals and flights have limited availability, so chances are you’re going to find the very best offers on the morning of 23rd November. Set an alarm or a reminder in your phone to jump online in the morning so you don’t forget.

What To Expect from Expedia on Black Friday

Whilst the specific deals are still top secret, I’ve been given inside information that Expedia will be offering an extra 75% off hotel coupon from 9am (subject to availability!), plus other hotel discounts and amazing deals on flight routes and package holidays from the UK and around the world. Note the 75% coupon available  is only redeemable on the Expedia app!

I had too many words about 2022 for a caption, so I’ve put them all into a blog post.

My “2022 year in review” is live on The Travelista. It’s a longer, personal blog post about lessons, learnings, achievements and travels from year just gone, as well as my hopes and goals for 2023. I’ve put a link on stories for anyone interested. 😊

I’m finding a new rhythm for travelling with (and sometimes without) a little one and can’t wait for what’s to come in 2023.

Whether you’re new here or you’ve followed my journey for years, thank you so much for being here, for every like, comment and share. It is this amazing, supportive and loyal community that has enabled me to quit my job this year and return to doing this full time again post Covid.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours ♥️.
Before I sign off for a little Christmas social me Before I sign off for a little Christmas social media break, here’s a festive photo dump of the past week + sharing my favourite poem🕯🎄🥂

Featuring

➕ A lunch to @bettys with the girls. Making a new tradition.
➕ A family visit to @castle_howard for their spectacular #IntotheWoods Christmas experience. Phenomenal. We go every year and it just gets better and better.
➕ Carols by candlelight at our local church - magic - but so many layers because the heating was broken!
➕ Dust if you Must by Rose Milligan. The perfect tonic in the (potentially stressful) build up to Christmas.

We are hosting family this year and I’m excited! I’d love my house to look like a festive show home but it doesn’t, and that’s ok. (I have a 4 year old making mess twice as fast as I can tidy it).

Fellow hosts, don’t be so busy ‘dusting’ that you miss all the little moments of magic! I’m reminding myself of this too. Swipe to read the poem and you’ll get it. ♥️

Wishing you a perfectly imperfect Christmas 🎄

ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute Christmas shopping at @junction32. 🎁

We are all feeling the pinch this year with the rising cost of living, so I set myself a challenge to find gifts for under £30. By shopping at outlets like Junction 32, which has over 80 brands offering up to 60% off the retail price, your money truly does go so much further. ♥️

What gifts I bought;

✔️ Slippers from @radleylondon RRP £40 J32 Price £20
✔️Himalayam charcoal gift set from @thebodyshop RRP £36.00 J32 Price £29.50
✔️Wax cheese wheels from independent retailer @themousehouse_lincoln £3 for £16
✔️Children’s cutlery set from @procookuk RRP £10 J32 Price £7

As usual J32 had some brilliant items on offer and a huge amount of choice, even this far into December.

Have you got any last minute Christmas shopping to do? I think I am finally done! 🛍
