I’ve got an exciting trip coming up, and it’s going to be one hell of an adventure. I’m eagerly preparing for my Scandinavian Cruise with Princess Cruises, which will depart from Berlin on 2nd May. This is going to be a trip of firsts in many ways. It will be my first ever cruise, it will be my first time to Scandinavia and I will get to visit 6 new countries as part of the adventure (which is actually blowing my mind!). We’re going be covering a lot of ground, so I thought I would share my route in a pre-departure blog post.
Although this Scandinavian Cruise will be my first official cruise, it won’t be the first time I have stepped on board a cruise ship. Last Summer I flew to Marseille and visited the coastal town of Toulon for a tour of the Royal Princess (a different ship in the Princess Cruises fleet). We were only on board for half a day, but that was my first experience of a cruise ship and it really helped me to decide if I’d like to try a cruise one day.
In My First Time on Cruise Ship post, I concluded that I think I’d love to experience a cruise, but not if it was your typical Mediterranean cruise. I decided I’d prefer a cruise that took me to slightly more unusual and intrepid places, the type of places I may not want to dedicate a whole holiday or city break to, but would still love to see. When the opportunity to do this Scandinavian Cruise came up and I saw the incredible destinations it was stopping in, I thought it fit the bill perfectly. You can check out all the cruise details here, but here is an overview of our route and the places we’ll be stopping;
2nd May – Berlin, Germany
3rd May – At sea
4th May – Tallinn, Estonia
5th May – St. Petersburg, Russia
6th May – St. Petersburg, Russia
7th May – Helsinki, Finland
8th May – Stockholm, Sweden
9th May – At sea
10th May – Copenhagen, Denmark
11th May – Oslo, Norway
12th May – At sea
Cities such as Copenhagen and St. Petersburg have been on my travel bucket list for years so I am pretty sure that they will be highlights for me, but I am also excited to visit places I have never considered before such as Tallinn in Estonia. There’s going to be a full itinerary of excursions in the cities we stop in so I am hoping to see all of the highlights whilst we are there. The cruise will be on board Regal Princess and is part of a campaign involving around 8 other UK influencers.
This adventure will take me to an entirely new part of the world and I am so excited to wake up in a new country almost every morning of the trip. That is what I am looking forward to the most.
Have you ever been on a cruise? Do you have any tips or advice for me as a first-time cruiser? I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave me a comment in the box below. Jess x
