Reviewing The Inflight Beauty Sleep Set by Kiss The Moon

05/09/16 ᛫ 66 Comments

One of the biggest problems with long-haul travel is the lack of sleep. Whether it’s from the jet lag or an uncomfortable night flight, travel to exotic lands can often leave you feeling sleep deprived. As a travel blogger, this is a feeling I know all too well. I’m always willing to try anything that might help me beat the jet lag, and guess what? I think I might have found the magic formula.

Reviewing the In-Flight Beauty Sleep Set by Kiss the Moon

I only ever feature products on my blog that I have tried and love, so I took the Inflight Beauty Sleep Set for a test drive on my latest trip to Mauritius. My outbound and inbound flights were both night flights of 11 ½ hours each, so it was the perfect opportunity to give the set a try.

Calm After Dark Face Oil

A couple of hours in to my night flight I began my ‘bedtime routine’. I reached for my face wipes and nipped to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get into my comfy clothes. I find that mentally, doing this routine really helps me to fall asleep. Instead of using my usual moisturiser, I used the After Dark Face Oil. You only need a few drops of oil from the pipette on your palms. The scents of jasmine and and ylang ylang instantly relaxed me and reminded me of an exotic Balinese spa. The face oil was extra moisturising and is great to use during and post flight.

Calm After Dark Balm

Next I reached for the Calm After Dark Balm, which is in a round pot with a twist lid. As instructed in the set, I rubbed the balm onto all of my pulse points (my temples, behind my ears and on my wrists). This little ritual made it feel like a real pamper session. Once on my pulse points for a few minutes, I really began to smell the sandalwood within the balm, as the soothing shea butter melted into my skin.

Ear Plugs

I’ve never really used earplugs on a flight before, but after trying these out I couldn’t believe how much of a difference they make. I’ve definitely been missing a trick until now and probably will never travel long haul without them again.

Silk Face Mask

The silk facemask feels very luxurious and is definitely fit for any diva in transit. Even in broad daylight, they give a perfect blackout, which is super handy for when the cabin lights are abruptly turned on mid flight. Light levels are the biggest single factor that controls our ability to sleep, so this accessory massively helped me to fall asleep (and more importantly stay asleep) on my flight.

The Verdict

Although I was flying economy, taking the Sleep Set with me added a little touch of luxury to my flight. Whether it was the psychology behind a bedtime routine or the deeply soothing properties of the products, I managed to get 7 hours sleep the way out and an amazing 9 hours sleep on the way back. I know that sleeping on planes is much easier for some than others, but I would never normally be able to sleep this long on a night flight.

A warm bath and slip into fresh crisp cotton linen sheets, with a window ajar for fresh air. No Tv or radio. Take five minutes to tense and relax each part of your body , toes, feet, legs , middle , hands and arms . Then count backwards from 50, 49, 48, 47 . … Zzzzzzzzzz

I have to wash my face before bed and take off the makeup, sweat, and grime of the day. I have sensitive dry skin so oil cleansers and face oils help me a lot. My boyfriend is a paraplegic and I enjoy helping him with his skincare to make him feel more confident and comfortable every day. I also have my phone set to be less bright in the evening, the blue light can keep my mind awake when my body’s exhausted .

I LOVE Kiss The Moon, I bought their Calm balm for a long haul flight last year as my boyfriend is such a bad flyer!

As I have to be up at 4am for work every day, a good nights sleep is imperative! I always leave the window open for air to circulate, and I have an ever growing collection of aromatherapy oils to help me drift off 🙂

I try to ensure a good night sleep by relaxing my mind before I hit the hay .. this includes unplugging, so no phones, no TV etc for an hour or so before. I try to take my mind away from the day with a good book, which unfortunately, sometimes puts me to sleep (in a good way!)

My must do bedtime routine that works especially well if feeling a bit stressed!
    • warm (not hot) shower/bath
•Clipper snore and peace tea (so yummy and has lavender in)
    • no mobile phone browsing once in bed
    • final top tip that seriously works…lie with eyes closed, picture a computer screen with a recycling bin in the corner. Make all your worries/thought into little desktop folders and gradually visualise dragging them to the recycling bin, empty the recycle bin and be finished thinking about them!! Truly is a sleep saver!!!
Sleep kit looks awesome will have to buy ready for flight in January.

If I want a good nights sleep I’ll get all cosied up and have some hot chocolate with a dash of cherry brandy in it – it’s like Black Forest gateaux in a mug! If I’m travelling I tend to stay awake for the flight in case I miss something and then go to bed at new time zone bedtime so I can adapt as quickly as possible!

What helps me falling asleep: Don`t watch tv in the evening 🙂 We quit watching the usual stuff some years ago and instead watch netflix. Negativity and scarcity is s big in the usual media, that it cralls into your mind and keeps you from sleeping.

The story behind the reel: last weekend we visited The story behind the reel: last weekend we visited the little coastal town of Staithes on the North Yorkshire coast. It was cold, windy, raining and then hail stones came down when we reached the harbour. Things weren’t going so well, until we stumbled across @cod_and_lobster_official and spontaneously ran in for shelter.

We entered a cosy little haven, with a lit fire and hot coffee. We hid from the cold and by the time we left, the skies had changed and sun was breaking through the clouds. Perfect timing to climb up the hill to the iconic Staithes view point. We couldn’t have asked for more. ✨
