Detox, Party, Chill: My 3 Summer Destinations of 2014

20/06/14 ᛫ 4 Comments

Blossom is on the trees, morning sunshine makes getting out of bed 10 times easier and you’ve at least begun to think about honing in that bikini body of yours. These are just three reasons that mean summer is OFFICIALLY here. Like the rest of the world, I am looking forward to jetting off somewhere sunny this summer. But unlike the rest of the world, I am not prepared to do it just once!

This Summer I have managed to line up one getaway for each of the glorious summer months. Granted, I will be working on two of them, but I love travelling so much that press trips never feel like work to me. Here’s how my summer is looking and why I am visiting each destination on my list.

 1. June – The Summer Detox
A Spa Detox Trip to The Alpina Gstaad

The most spontaneous of my summer trips is just one week away, where I will be be going to Gstaad for a mountain detox retreat at The Alpina Gstaad Hotel. As one of Switzerland’s most luxurious 5* hotels, I can’t wait to go and review it for myself. The famous Swiss resort easily operates at full occupancy in the winter months due to the near by ski resorts. Naturally, the summer months get a little quieter, so they have cleverly devised a range of spa and detox programmes to entice health-conscious holiday makers all year round. With the high altitude and fresh mountain air, they are in a perfect position sell themselves as a purifying getaway. A brilliant idea if you ask me.

The Alpina Gstaad has it’s very own Six Senses Spa, which I have heard amazing things about. With a detox itinerary including workouts, yoga, mountain hikes, a tailor made Alpina Life diet and purifying spa treatments, I am hoping to leave feeling a million dollars (and be in tip top shape ready for my next stop!)

My trip to Gstaad is a press trip I am going on for my freelance travel writing courtesty of PRCo UK.

2. July -The Party Week
The Ultimate Party Week in Ibiza- July

This summer will include my first ever trip to the famous white isle. Me and my friends are still in our early twenties so we figured there is no better time to go and experience the famous clubbing mecca than now – before we’re old and grey! I am going in a group of 6 boys and 6 girls, all of which are my best best friends. We’ve hired a villa in the hills near the Old Town, which has the most gorgeous views.

The trip is going to be amazing and we have a whole itinerary planned out for the best boat trips, day parties and club nights to hit during our week there. A little extra detox may be necessary after this week. First stop Ocean Beach Club!

My Ibiza trip is a personal holiday with no connections to work, but have no fear, I will be blogging all about it and we have a GoPro to capture all of the action!

3. August – The Ultimate Chill Out
My First Caribbean Adventure

My only long-haul travel adventure this summer comes in the form of a blissful week in The Caribbean, ensuring I see the summer out in style! Having never been to the Caribbean, this trip will be yet another travel first for me.

After a week of partying in Ibiza, I cannot wait to unwind and get a taste of Island Life during one week at the Four Seasons, St Nevis. The Four Seasons is the most luxurious hotel on the whole island, and is actually the only resort. St Nevis is a stunning volcanic island which sits next to it’s big brother St Kitts. The explorer in me can’t wait to get my hiking boots on and discover the island’s volcanoes and waterfalls, as well as relaxing on the beach of course! To find out more about my trip to St Nevis, read my Caribbean Dreaming Blog Post.

With so many exciting travel plans, I have a feeling that Summer 2014 is going to be the best yet! I am pretty chuffed with my line up and cannot wait to tell you all about my adventures.

What do you think of my Summer line up? Have you visited any of my destinations or thinking of going yourself? If you have any travel tips or advice for me before I jet off, I’d love to hear from you! Simply comment in the box below x

How incredible that you’ll be staying at the Four Seasons all as part of a press trip – just a bit jealous!! Have a wonderful time and look forward to seeing the updates as the Carribean is one of the parts of the world I’ve not been to before!

Hi Shika, I know it’s amazing, I am a very lucky lady! I will be sure to be blogging all about it during and after the trip. I have never been to the Caribbean either before so I am very excited. Thanks for your comment.

These all sound amazing! I had the best time in Ibiza – me and my girls went for our 21st birthdays and saw Snoop Dogg live in Amnesia – amazing!! I’m holding off on all travel this summer, sticking to weekends away and lots of festivals to save the pennies for a big backpacking tour next year 🙂

Hello 2023! 🤍 A clean page, a fresh start. I h Hello 2023! 🤍 A clean page, a fresh start.

I had too many words about 2022 for a caption, so I’ve put them all into a blog post.

My “2022 year in review” is live on The Travelista. It’s a longer, personal blog post about lessons, learnings, achievements and travels from year just gone, as well as my hopes and goals for 2023. I’ve put a link on stories for anyone interested. 😊

Wishing you a healthy, happy, adventure-filled New Year ✨

I’m finding a new rhythm for travelling with (and sometimes without) a little one and can’t wait for what’s to come in 2023.

Whether you’re new here or you’ve followed my journey for years, thank you so much for being here, for every like, comment and share. It is this amazing, supportive and loyal community that has enabled me to quit my job this year and return to doing this full time again post Covid.

What was the most memorable place you’ve visited in 2022? ♥️

Merry Christmas from my family to yours ♥️.
Before I sign off for a little Christmas social me Before I sign off for a little Christmas social media break, here’s a festive photo dump of the past week + sharing my favourite poem🕯🎄🥂

Featuring

➕ A lunch to @bettys with the girls. Making a new tradition.
➕ A family visit to @castle_howard for their spectacular #IntotheWoods Christmas experience. Phenomenal. We go every year and it just gets better and better.
➕ Carols by candlelight at our local church - magic - but so many layers because the heating was broken!
➕ Dust if you Must by Rose Milligan. The perfect tonic in the (potentially stressful) build up to Christmas.

We are hosting family this year and I’m excited! I’d love my house to look like a festive show home but it doesn’t, and that’s ok. (I have a 4 year old making mess twice as fast as I can tidy it).

Fellow hosts, don’t be so busy ‘dusting’ that you miss all the little moments of magic! I’m reminding myself of this too. Swipe to read the poem and you’ll get it. ♥️

Wishing you a perfectly imperfect Christmas 🎄

ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute Christmas shopping at @junction32. 🎁

We are all feeling the pinch this year with the rising cost of living, so I set myself a challenge to find gifts for under £30. By shopping at outlets like Junction 32, which has over 80 brands offering up to 60% off the retail price, your money truly does go so much further. ♥️

What gifts I bought;

✔️ Slippers from @radleylondon RRP £40 J32 Price £20
✔️Himalayam charcoal gift set from @thebodyshop RRP £36.00 J32 Price £29.50
✔️Wax cheese wheels from independent retailer @themousehouse_lincoln £3 for £16
✔️Children’s cutlery set from @procookuk RRP £10 J32 Price £7

As usual J32 had some brilliant items on offer and a huge amount of choice, even this far into December.

Have you got any last minute Christmas shopping to do? I think I am finally done! 🛍
