What to Pack on a Summer Holiday

06/06/13 ᛫ Add a Comment

With my upcoming sailing trip to Greece on the 9th June, it’s around about that time when I start to clamber into the depths of my wardrobes to retrieve many of my most loved summer classics. As I brush off the cobwebs from my old faithfuls and of course make a few new purchases along the way, I thought I would reveal what is going inside the suitcase of The Travelista!

1. Bikinis

Let’s face it, when it comes to summer travel the only real place to start is bikinis! And whilst I will be spending most of my time lounging on (and sailing) a yacht, I figured I’ll probably be living in these things for the next 2 weeks. All four of these beauties are new this season. So where are your guesses? Missoni – top right? No no my friends, listen in.

2. Travel Essentials

As much of a self-confessed digital geek I am, I never ever travel without a hard copy travel guide. To me, there is something immensely pleasurable and exciting about sitting on the plane and reading about the amazing places I’m about to discover. Equally, I love nothing more than reading about my destination once I’ve arrived.  I will be recording my trip with my Nikon D3200 camera. This bad boy captures incredible images that I can’t wait to share with you all. I’m also planning to make a video documentary on it too. So stay tuned!

3. Chill Out Equipment

For all my downtime and sun worshipping needs, I plan to do nothing more than lay back with a copy of my favourite mag, Conde Nast Traveller, and loose myself in some travel stories (seeing as I will be in sunny Greece I won’t feel half as envious as usual). I got these tortoise shell Wayfarer Ray Bans last summer and I still adore them, perfect for the beach! Lastly this handy little beach mat comes rolled up with a handle. Just what I need for when I want to abandon ship and find a deserted little beach – thanks Clinique!

4. Workout Gear

Whenever I go away, I always make sure I bring my workout gear. Being in a completely new environment allows you to shake up your routine and do something a little different. The first week of my trip I will be staying at The Retreat in Sivota, which has an inclusive selection of workout classes and watersports . Morning yoga on the beach is top of my list, as well as a mountain bike ride. My Nike Free Runs are so lightweight and compact they take up virtually no space in my suitcase – so no excuses!

5. Old and New Favourites

Here we have a combination of old and new items which, to me, scream holiday! I love to wear bright colours and lots of white when I am away as they both look amazing against tanned skin. I picked up the top right dress from Topshop in the Christmas sale 2012. It’s so summery, they knocked the price down to £5 (would you believe), and I’ve been saving it for my trip ever since. The sandals are also Topshop (£30 Summer 2013) and I picked these 3 pairs of shorts up from a New Look sample sale last summer. Lastly the bottom right is an old classic of mine which is amazingly comfortable but super glam for when the sun goes down.

So there you have it, what goes inside the suitcase of The Travelista. I’ve shown you mine, now will you show me yours? …

Hello 2023! 🤍 A clean page, a fresh start. I h Hello 2023! 🤍 A clean page, a fresh start.

I had too many words about 2022 for a caption, so I’ve put them all into a blog post.

My “2022 year in review” is live on The Travelista. It’s a longer, personal blog post about lessons, learnings, achievements and travels from year just gone, as well as my hopes and goals for 2023. I’ve put a link on stories for anyone interested. 😊

Wishing you a healthy, happy, adventure-filled New Year ✨

I’m finding a new rhythm for travelling with (and sometimes without) a little one and can’t wait for what’s to come in 2023.

Whether you’re new here or you’ve followed my journey for years, thank you so much for being here, for every like, comment and share. It is this amazing, supportive and loyal community that has enabled me to quit my job this year and return to doing this full time again post Covid.

What was the most memorable place you’ve visited in 2022? ♥️

Merry Christmas from my family to yours ♥️.
Before I sign off for a little Christmas social me Before I sign off for a little Christmas social media break, here’s a festive photo dump of the past week + sharing my favourite poem🕯🎄🥂

Featuring

➕ A lunch to @bettys with the girls. Making a new tradition.
➕ A family visit to @castle_howard for their spectacular #IntotheWoods Christmas experience. Phenomenal. We go every year and it just gets better and better.
➕ Carols by candlelight at our local church - magic - but so many layers because the heating was broken!
➕ Dust if you Must by Rose Milligan. The perfect tonic in the (potentially stressful) build up to Christmas.

We are hosting family this year and I’m excited! I’d love my house to look like a festive show home but it doesn’t, and that’s ok. (I have a 4 year old making mess twice as fast as I can tidy it).

Fellow hosts, don’t be so busy ‘dusting’ that you miss all the little moments of magic! I’m reminding myself of this too. Swipe to read the poem and you’ll get it. ♥️

Wishing you a perfectly imperfect Christmas 🎄

ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute ad Come with me and my Mum to do some last minute Christmas shopping at @junction32. 🎁

We are all feeling the pinch this year with the rising cost of living, so I set myself a challenge to find gifts for under £30. By shopping at outlets like Junction 32, which has over 80 brands offering up to 60% off the retail price, your money truly does go so much further. ♥️

What gifts I bought;

✔️ Slippers from @radleylondon RRP £40 J32 Price £20
✔️Himalayam charcoal gift set from @thebodyshop RRP £36.00 J32 Price £29.50
✔️Wax cheese wheels from independent retailer @themousehouse_lincoln £3 for £16
✔️Children’s cutlery set from @procookuk RRP £10 J32 Price £7

As usual J32 had some brilliant items on offer and a huge amount of choice, even this far into December.

Have you got any last minute Christmas shopping to do? I think I am finally done! 🛍
